Prep String and Training Orchestras Conductors

We are fortunate indeed to have Ms. Audrey Lipsey and Mr. Richard Leo Hazen as the conductors of the Kalamazoo and Prep String Orchestra and Ms. Audrey Lipsey as conductor of the KalamazooTraining Orchestra. Each of them brings their own unique and outstanding talents, abilities and personality to the orchestra podium.

Ms. Audrey Lipsey received her Bachelor of Music Education from Western Michigan University. She is the Executive Director and Instructor of Violin at Crescendo Academy of Music, the Assistant Concertmaster of the Kalamazoo Symphony and Battle Creek Symphony Orchestras and a Child Development Teacher with Kalamazoo County Head Start.

Mr. Leo Hazen received his Bachelor of Music Education from Western Michigan University. He is an Instrumental Music Teacher with Portage Public Schools and a Section Bassist and Jazz Bassist with the Grand Rapids Symphony.

Orchestra members enjoy learning and playing under the direction of Ms. Lipsey and Mr. Hazen along with the help of an intern from the Kalamazoo Junior Symphony Orchestra. The Kalamazoo Prep String Orchestra performs two regular concerts per season and the Kalamazoo Training Orchestra performs one concert at the end of their season at an area Senior Citizen Residence.
